JUST IN: Learner in critical condition following stabbing incident

The secondary school learner allegedly was accosted and robbed and sustained multiple stab wounds to the back and chest.

A 17-YEAR-OLD male learner is in a critical condition after he was stabbed earlier today (November 13) at a secondary school in Merebank. It was alleged there was a brutal attack on the learner which resulted in him being stabbed several times in the chest and back.

According to PT Alarms, the learner sustained multiple stab wounds to the chest and back after he was accosted by a fellow learner who attempted to steal his cellphone. 

Garrith Jamieson, ALS Paramedics’ spokesperson, said the victim was in a critical condition when paramedics arrived on the scene. “Paramedics worked to stabilise the learner before he was rushed off to the nearest hospital,” he said.

Jamieson said security personnel and the Wentworth police responded promptly to the incident and are investigating the events that led to the stabbings.
