E-waste initiatives encourages residents to discard old appliances

Bluff residents are encouraged to discard old electronics in a safe manner, in designated E-waste bins at the Bluff Show Grounds.

IN a bid to promote environmental sustainability, the Cleansing and Solid Waste Unit will conduct an E-Waste recycling initiative on January 10 and 11 at the Bluff Show Grounds parking area.

Accepted items:

Residents are encouraged to safely dispose of the following electronic appliances:

  • Computers and accessories: Laptops, keyboards, computer mouse and chargers.
  • Household electronics: Irons, kettles, hairdryers, blenders and food processors.
  • Personal appliances: Cellular phones, hair clippers and remote controls.
  • Others: cables, batteries, calculators, etc.
This programme was put in place to help minimise the environmental hazards of electronic waste when disposed of incorrectly, as this may lead to harmful substances being released into the environment if not disposed of properly.

This initiative invites the participation of all residents to pave the way toward a cleaner, greener community. The proper disposal of e-waste will go a long way in saving the planet for generations to come.

Times:

These drop-off bins will be available between 08:30 and 15:00 on January 10 and 11.
