BIG smiles and sounds of cheer filled the hallways of many high schools in Durban South today (January 14) as matric learners returned to school to received their results.
The Department of Education announced that the Class of 2024 have secured a national pass rate of 87.3%, which is an improvement of 4.4.% from the Class of 2023. Minister of Basic Education, Honourable Siviwe Gwarhube, shared that this was a historic year for KZN which placed as the second best performing province with a pass rate of 89.5%, which is a 3.1% improvement from the 2023 results.

Merebank Secondary School’s Navethan Varthan, Drushentha Govender, Ishieka Bissoon and Nimishka Bengu are elated after receiving their results.
Durban Academy High School’s Dean Mandaza, Tyrese Jacobs, Dashiell Rajkussore and Sthembiso Sibeko were elated to receive their results.
Merebank Secondary School’s Caedan Ramchooran, Laiton Govender and Rachel Ebenezer were filled with joy to receive their marks.
Grosvenor Girls’ High School’s Jordan Dickens, Kirsten Marnies, Hannah Dickens and Ella Hayward, smile with their certificates with their teachers Senrika Eshwarduth and Ilze Du Plessis.
Bluff Christian Academy’s Thabisile Mkhize, Calice Bok, Ne’Veronique Litchfield and Sinakhokuhle Mahlangu were all super chuffed with their results.

He is a relatively new face in the journalism scene as he just recently graduated. He has a Bachelor in Journalism degree with a major in television. As a journalist at Southlands Sun he focuses on a variety of beats of news from hard news to social events and sports. He works as a multimedia journalist utilising his love for the camera and social media to good use.
