Just in: Truck, car collide on M4 near Merebank

Paramedics are at the accident scene on the M4 near the Merebank Southern freeway offramp. One person is still trapped inside a truck that overturned.

EMERGENCY services are at the scene on the M4 Southern freeway near the Merebank offramp where a truck has collided with a light motor vehicle.

Spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Garrith Jamieson said the initial reports indicated that a truck collided with another vehicle before overturning and coming to rest on its roof.

He said after the truck lost control, the shipping container it was carrying shifted and toppled onto the road.

“One person is severely entrapped in the truck and Life Support Paramedics are stabilising him while they wait for rescue services to attend. Two other patients from the vehicle are being treated at the scene,” said Jamieson.

The M4 Southern freeway has been closed from Himalaya Road.
