The Wentworth community supported a breakfast fundraiser for the Jones family who lost their home in a fire in July.

THE Abbaquar-San Dream Centre was filled with the aroma of a hearty breakfast, the sound of laughter and kindness as Wentworth residents came out to support a special breakfast fundraiser for the Jones family, whose house was destroyed by a fire in July.

The breakfast fundraiser, organised by the friends, relatives and staff of the dream centre, brought in large numbers of donors, sponsors and well-wishers. Olivia Jones, senior cultural chieftess at the Abbaquar San Dream Centre, described the morning as emotionally overwhelming.

“The event was a wonderful success, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, community and supporters. We were overwhelmed by the turnout and the kindness of those who contributed to our cause,” said Olivia.

The Joneses, Olivia and her husband Jerome and sons Declan and Dyllón, lost nearly everything when a heater caused a fire that burned their house down. The neighbourhood has rallied to assist them in rebuilding their life.

Olivia said their home is 80% complete, but there are several key aspects still to finish. “We have some key things still to do, such as the installation of tiles, built-in cupboards, beds and gates. Your support will help us move a step closer towards making our house a home once again,” she said.

The campaign was not only a financial boost but also a sincere reminder of community resilience. “It means everything to us that we can rely on so kind and compassionate a community. It is a reminder that we are not alone on this journey and that it gives us hope,” said Olivia.

The Jones family extend their genuine appreciation to everyone who contributed, be it by attending, donating or spreading the word. “Your kindness and generosity are really making a difference to us. We thank you for helping us rebuild our home and our lives,” she said.
