Metro police conduct compliance operation in Clairwood
The operation forms part of the continued efforts to promote lawful trading, ensure fair business practices and maintain order.
TWO businessmen from Clairwood were charged for operating without a valid trading licence during a compliance operation held recently.
The by-law enforcement operation focused on compliance checks on businesses along South Coast Road in Clairwood.
During the operation the first businessman was charged in terms of Section 56 for displaying goods outside the premises. The police impounded the goods that were unlawfully displayed.
The second individual was also charged under Section 56 for trading without a valid business licence.

Metro police spokesperson Colonel Boysie Zungu said another individual was detained for being illegally in the country and taken to Umlazi police station.
According to Durban Metro Police Service, the operation forms part of the continued efforts to promote lawful trading, ensure fair business practices, and maintain order within commercial areas. Authorities indicated that similar compliance operations will continue.
