eThekwini calls on young writers to ink their futures

eThekwini Municipality is calling on the youth with a passion for creative writing to apply to be a literary ambassador for the municipality.

A NEW programme, launched by the eThekwini Municipal Libraries, is offering young writers a chance to transform their imaginative ideas into published stories.

This particular effort, named “I Want to Write a Book,” is being introduced as a component of the larger Articulate Africa Art and Book Fair. The programme is directed to children who already possess a clear passion for crafting stories.

The aim of the programme is to cultivate and advance emerging literary talent, providing participants with fundamental writing skills. Through the guidance of experienced literary professionals, the selected participants will receive mentorship and support as they refine their narrative techniques.

What are the benefits of the programme?

Beyond the developing of writing abilities, the programme also presents an opportunity for participants to connect with other young creative individuals, thus fostering potential collaborations and sources of inspiration. It also establishes a framework for participants to initiate their journey toward becoming published authors, while also offering the prospect of serving as literary ambassadors for the municipality.
