DMRE REF: KZN30/5/1/1/2/12197PR Notice is hereby given of a Public Participation Process in terms of Chapter 6 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations 982 (2014), as amended in April 2017, promulgated in terms of Section 24 of the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 (NEMA). Project Background: Ncebo Mining (Pty) Ltd (Ncebo) has applied for a Prospecting Right in terms of Section 16 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act No. 28 of 2002 to prospect for Coal. The proposed project is located on Portion 24 of Farm Kreiger Holm 3340 HS, Newcastle Local Municipality, KwaZulu Natal Province. Legal Context: The Prospecting Right application is lodged in terms of Section 16 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002 (Act No.28 of 2002) (MPRDA). The proposed prospecting activity triggers a NEMA listed Activity: GNR 983, activity 20. Availability of the Draft Basic Assessment Report and the Environmental Management Programme: In accordance with the EIA Regulations, the Draft Basic Assessment Report and the Environmental Management Programme will be made available for public review and comment for a period of 30 days.
