NOTICE PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS
Water Use License (WUL) Application in terms of
Section 21 of NWA 36 of 1998 for the water uses associated with the Middelburg Toll Plaza, Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, Mpumalanga
Notice is hereby given, in terms of Section 41 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2014 (as amended in 2017), read with Section 21 of the National Water Act 36 of 1998, that the South African National Roads Agency Limited is applying for a water use licence to abstract approximately 3100 m3 of water per year (Section 21(a)) for daily operations at the facility. The application also covers the operation of septic tanks
(Section 21(g)) and activities within a Water Regulated Area, including within 500m of a wetland
(Section 21(c&i)). The Middelburg Toll Plaza is located on portion
49 and 52 of the farm Rietfontein 314-JS, approximately 10km West of Middelburg, Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, Mpumalanga Province. Coordinates (2551`57.50″S 2921`48.99″E). Application for WUL will be submitted to the Limpopo-Olifants Catchment Management Agency (LOCMA).
