EXPANSION AND OPERATION OF THE RICHARDS BAY FUEL DEPOT, RESERVE NO.6 NO.15825 GV, CITY OF UMHLATHUZE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, KWAZULU- NATAL. Notice is hereby given that an application in terms of Section 24 of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA), 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998) will be lodged with the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA). Wozani Berg Gasoline (Pty) Ltd. proposes to expand an existing fuel storage and distribution depot, and truck stop located at 145 Alumina Allee, on Reserve No.6 No.15825 GV in Alton, Richards Bay, City of uMhlathuze Local Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal (2844`14.31`S, 32 2`12.54`E). The proposed depot will comprise of the following infrastructure:
•X 1 existing 83 m3 Above-Ground Storage (AGS) tank;
•X 1 existing 23 m3 Under-Ground Storage (UGS) tank (currently not in use- to decommission);
•X 1 existing 9 m3 Under-Ground Storage (UGS) tank (currently not in use – to decommission); and
•X 1 proposed 83 m3 Above- Ground Storage (AGS) tank. The proposed activity triggers Activity 51 of Listing Notice 1 (GNR 327) of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations (2014, as amended). The activities triggered will be confirmed during the EIA process. All Interested and Affected Parties (I&APs) are invited to register in writing via email using the contact details below to obtain further information on the project and to be provided with the opportunity to comment on the draft EIA Report for 30 days once the reports are made available.
