NOTICE OF ATMOSPHERIC EMISSION LICENCE RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR AFRICAN RAINBOW MINERALS LIMITED, MACHADODORP
Notice is hereby given, in terms of Section 38(3) of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (No. 39 of 2004, as amended) (NEM:AQA), to all interested and affected parties (I&APs), that African Rainbow Minerals Limited is applying for the renewal of its Atmospheric Emission Licence (AEL), which was issued for its works on Portion 4 of the farm Schoongezicht 364JT, the Remainder Extent of the farm Dalmanutha 376JT, and Portion 6 of the farm De Kroon 363JT, approximately 1.5 km south-east of Emothonjeni.

Independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner: EScience Associates (Pty) Ltd.
Licensing Authority (AEL): Nkangala District Municipality
In terms of Section 22 of NEM:AQA, an Atmospheric Emission Licence, or a Provisional Atmospheric Emission Licence, is required to conduct an activity listed in terms of Section 21. The facility currently holds an AEL
(17/04/AEL/MP314/11/01) for the following listed activities:
•Subcategory 4.5: Sinter Plants
•Subcategory 4.9: Ferro-alloy Production
•Subcategory 4.11: Agglomeration Operations
* Subcategory 4.20: Slag Processes
•Subcategory 5.1: Storage and Handling of Ore and Coal
In terms of the requirements of Section 38 of NEM:AQA, interested and affected parties (I&APs) must be provided with an opportunity to comment on the application process. To ensure that you are identified as an I&AP, please submit your name, contact information, and interest in the application process to the
contact person given below by 19 October 2026. This will ensure that you are registered as an I&AP, informed of progress with the AEL application and the availability of the application for review, and that your input may be formally recognised.
