NOTIFICATION OF PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS New Kleinfontein Goldmine (Pty) Ltd (NKGM), a subsidiary of Gold One Group Ltd, is proposing to extend the underground workings of the existing Modder East Operations near Springs, in the City of Ekurhuleni, Gauteng Province. The current underground workings will be extended toward the north and north-east, resulting in a 13-year Life of Mine extension for the Modder East Operations. This proposed expansion is within NKGM`s authorised Mining Right (MR) and is referred to as the Modder North Project.

To support the underground expansion of the mine, the existing Modder East Operations decline will be extended. Four vent shafts are proposed, one of which will be equipped with headgear and winder. All the shafts will be located in areas currently used for crop agriculture. Ore and waste rock from the proposed expansion will be conveyed underground and managed at the existing Modder East Operations. At closure, all surface infrastructure will be removed and, where feasible, the land will be rehabilitated and returned to crop agriculture. The existing crossing over the Blesbokspruit will be upgraded to provide the required access to the proposed vent shaft sites. The construction phase of the Modder North Project is expected to take approximately four years.

The surface development will be located on the Remaining Extent (RE) of the Farm Cloverfield 75 IR, RE of Portion 22 of the Farm Welgedacht 74 IR, RE of Portion 2 of the Farm Modder East 72 IR, and RE of the Farm Modder East 72 IR.

NKGM is applying for an Environmental Authorisation (EA) for activities listed in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA) Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations (GNR982 of 2014, as amended) for the proposed expansion project and associated infrastructure. The following activities are triggered: NEMA Listing Notice (LN) 1 (GNR 983): 12, 19, 21D, 28, 34; LN2 (GNR984): 17. A full Scoping and EIA process will be followed, and all documentation will be submitted to the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) for consideration.

A Water Use Licence (WUL) is also required in terms of Section 21 of the National Water Act (No. 36 of 1998) (NWA). A consolidated WUL application has been submitted separately to the Department of Water and Sanitation (Ref. no.: WU27349).

Prime Resources (Pty) Ltd has been appointed as the Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) in terms of Section 12 of NEMA to facilitate the above processes.
