Marie, Jenny take Bluff BC monthly pairs spoils

The semi finals of the men's open singles between Robert Mhlongo and Clinton Bisset took place on Saturday afternoon.

MARIE Sadie and Jenny Greef took the spoils at this month’s Lilah Nel pairs played at Bluff Bowling Club when they won the R400 first prize on a 4+20, pipping George Santos and Mouse Ratcliffe who scored a 4+17.

The first session was won by Jo’burg visitor Barry Mansfield and local boy Dave McCann on a score of 2+7.

The second session was won by Keith Wild and Eric Miller on a 2+17. Dave Rowe took home the chicken raffle while Ken Thomas won the whiskey draw and the 50/50 board honours went to Alex Fisher.

Last Thursday, the July edition of the Brian Osman pairs was played and overall winners were Robert Mhlongo and Kurt Spack on a score of 4+26. The 1st session was won by Chris Klopper and Johan Nel on a 2+10 and the second session was won by Eric Smit and Shaun McAllister on a 2+21. Robbie Carr won the board draw while the meat raffle was won by June Foster.

The semi finals of the men’s open singles between Robert Mhlongo and Clinton Bisset took place on Saturday afternoon. Clinton edged out Robert 21-17 and will now contest the final with Dave Le Roux.

The women’s open final will be played between June Foster and Bridget White, with the winner of this and the men’s final going on to represent the club at the ‘Champion of champions’ trophy to be held on 3 August.

This weekend sees the PNB masters competition being held at Durban Bowling Club. The club has six participating players who were chosen by the district. They are Sarie Bisset, Bridget White, Glynis Macrory and Daphne Reinhardt in the women’s sections and Paul White and Robert Mhlongo in the men’s. The club wishes them all the best of luck. There are postings on the board for the nominated mixed pairs on Saturday, 26 July so members are asked to check the board.

There are also a few men’s senior singles games posted for Tuesday, 29 July and again members are asked to check the board.

The entries for the men and women’s PNB nominated pairs closes at the weekend. Members must ensure their names together with their BSA numbers are entered on the list provided on the relevant notice boards.
