Enjoyable outing for Woodlands women at Westville Women’s Day trips

The club sends best wishes to Jean Edley from Wanderers who is not well at present.

IT was a busy week at Woodlands Bowling Club starting with open pairs on Wednesday.

First session was won by Robbie Carr and William Richardson and second session was won by Cora van der Westhuizen and Eileen du Plessis.

The overall winners were Kim Hawkins and Ken Thomas. R40 money board went to Neville Horner and R20 to Daphne Els. Ken Koch won the meat raffle and the drawn prizes were: Skip Bob Hayward, lead Gwen Tait, skip Dougie Moore and lead Linda Hewer.

On Thursday was the casual fours breakfast and first session went to Chris Pozyn, Lorraine Smith, Aroo Moodley and Michelle Nortje. Second session went to Greg McGuinness, Phil Pieterse and Arthur Carlyle and the winners were Kim Hawkins, Bob Hayward, Chris Klopper and Ken Thomas.

Bill Hewer won the meat raffle and the money board went to Aroo Moodley and Linda Hewer scooping the R40 and the Keith Wild and Ken Thomas taking the R20 scraps. The drawn prizes went to skip Terry Micholson, third Dave Carroll, second Gwen Tait and lead Val McCaffrey. On Saturday Gloria Rice, Linda Hewer and Sonia Moore from Hilary played in the Women’s Day trips competition at Westville. A very pleasant day was had by all, with all players winning a prize. The club sends best wishes to Jean Edley from Wanderers who is not well at present.

On Friday night, the 100 club was drawn for the month and the winner was George Moore, who took home the R500. The meat draw was won by Cobus Janse van Vuuren, Dennis Tarboton and Abie Joubert. The snowball is another carryover as Dawn Moore was not at the club to take the winnings. Swindle winners are Glen Morris (twice), Harold Dix, Carole Lauderdale, Maggie Tarboton, Ralph Mostert, Derek Botha and Trevor Hubbard. The Lotto bonus ball went to Derek Botha.

The next competition will be the shirts and skirts on Sunday, 24 August.
