Alex, Ken on the money at Bluff BC

The final of the women drawn pairs was played on Saturday and Glynis Macrory and Ronel Morel are this years winners when they defeated Daphne Reinhardt and Paula Osman.

ALEX Fisher and Ken Thomas took home the first prize of R400 when they won this month’s Lilah Nel any pairs competition this past Sunday.

Their overall score of 4+24 proved too good on the day.

The first session was won by June Foster and Dudley Dorrofield on a 2+13 while the second session went to Gary Moffat and Michael Schudel on a 2+12. There were two 50/50 boards drawn and they were won by Daphne Reinhardt and Vicky Williams while Rob Davies took home the roast pork.

The results of the Brian Osman any pairs played last Thursday saw overall winners emerge in Lofty Cawthorne and Eric Smit 4+31, with the first session going to Kurt and Dawn Spack on a 2 + 10. The second session produced a count out between Dave Rowe and Janice Rodgers and the eventual winners were Ken Thomas and Sean McAllister. Both teams finished on a score of 2+13.

The board draw was won by Keith Wild and the meat raffle was won by Colin Nicholas and the drawn prizes were won by Dirk Venter and Dave Vincent.

In the men’s drawn fours semi final, Gary Moffat’s side of Dudley Dorrofield, Noel Morel and Hilton Lassak edged out Robbie Johnston’s side of Greg Dorrofield, Spider Williams and Mouse Ratcliffe on the 22nd end after the scores were tied on 19-19 in regulation.

In another men’s fours match Paul White, Alex Fisher ,Wayne Tonkin and Kurt Spack were too strong for Steve Baker, George Santos, Allan Moore and Deon Els.

In a women’s point singles match Elize Stapelberg beat Lilah Nel to progress to the next round.

On national braai day, Wednesday, 24 September, the annual Bluff-Wentworth challenge takes place at Wentworth BC. Members are asked to go along and enjoy the morning and lunch time braai whether they are playing or not.

There will be a carpet bowls evening this Friday and members and friends are invited to join in the fun.
