IT was a quiet week at Wanderers Bowling Club, where the excitement of having two teams through to the play-offs of the PNB trips was the highlight of the week.

Terrance and Pat McGlynn with Chris Klopper as well as Kim Hawkins, Mike Freeman and Tom Simpkins won their respective sections after the round robin stage and both proceeded to Parkhill on Sunday to compete in the play-offs.

Unfortunately, Terrance and team lost their first match by a small margin to be eliminated. Kim’s team however beat a Westville Country Club side to get into the last 16.

They then came up against a hot shot Hillary side with the current men’s open singles champion in it, and this game bobbed up and down until the 13th end when the Wanderers boys dropped a dreadful seven shots. They rallied well and won the next two ends to miss the win by a single shot at 17-18. So near and yet so far.

In the monthly bowls draw, Mitty Chelin won R750, Mike Flack won R500 and Robin Grobler won R250.
