Quins secures bonus point win over Ilembe in KZNCU league match

THE Durban and District Cricket Union announced the cancellation of all cricket matches under its jurisdiction early on Saturday due to waterlogged fields.
However, the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union league matches were played out, including the scheduled Quins versus Ilembe match at the Gledhow venue on Sunday morning.
Quins fielded first with fast bowler Yusuf Abdulla capturing three wickets for 39 runs in a 10-over spell. Medium pacer Mohammed Patel got two wickets for 27 runs off eight overs and right arm off spinner Eric Cavanagh removed two Ilembe batsmen for just 15 runs in 9,2 overs.
Quins’ reply to the set target was resolute as opening batsman Mohmadtalha Motalha scored 14 runs, middle order batsman Faiyas Safri top scored with 52 runs, Kalvin Venter scored 14 runs and Kevin Kettle managed 22 runs to take Quins through to a victory by two wickets, thus earning a bonus point.
On Saturday, 18 November, the Quins sixth team takes on DHS Rhythm 6 at Danville Park in a 30 over a side division five encounter from 1.30pm.
On Sunday, 19 November from 9am Quins first team take on an ever-improving Umlazi team at Harlequins 1 in a 50 over a side stream one Challenge league match. The second team plays a 40 over match against Hillary Malvern at Harlequins 2. The third team has a bye. The fourth side plays against Asande in a 30 over division two encounter at Wentworth Park, Bayview and the fifth eleven challenges Mpumalanga 2 in a 30 over game at Lt King Park, Fynnland from 1.30pm.
A club meeting will be held from 6.30pm on Thursday. Coaching sessions for juniors will continue on Thursdays from 4.30pm. Practises for seniors are on Fridays from 4.30pm.
