Weekend hikers to enjoy outer west wanderings

ESTON and Winston Park are the destinations for eager Durban Ramblers Hiking Club hikers this weekend.

On Saturday, 13 October, hikers will venture out to Winston Park into Stockville Valley for a grade three, strenuous 7km walk.

Call hike leader Werner on 084-206-7836. He will lead hikers on a walk through Winston Park to a private property entrance into the conservancy in Stockville Valley. This includes a steep walk down into and out of the valley. Hikers can enjoy drinks afterwards in the piazza where the cars are parked. Meet at 1.45pm at Gillitts Post Office in York Road.

On Sunday, 14 October hikers will undertake a 14km grade three hike to Eston.

Call hike leader Margie on 073-437-6915. Drive in convoy to a farm near Tala Game Reserve for a hike over rolling hills of indigenous bush, cane and grasslands. Petrol sharing cost is about R50. Meet to leave promptly at 7.30am at Union Main Centre, Pinetown or at 7.50am at the Cato Ridge offramp.
