Ramblers set to explore the Midlands and Kloof
DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club will hike the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve and the Virginia Walkabout/ Danville Dawdle this weekend.
On Saturday, 13 April, hike leader Ann Olds will lead walkers on a grade three strenuous 9km walk in the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve. The hike is over grassland and through forest, steep in parts with wonderful views across the gorge to Kloof and east to the ocean. You can park at Waterfall end of Krantzkloof Nature Reserve on Valley Drive to meet at 1.45pm.
Directions from Kloof:
- Follow Kloof Falls Road until you pass Krantzkloof Nature Reserve; Kloof Falls Road becomes Bridle Road at the bottom of the hill just after KKNR.
- Continue up the hill and follow Bridle Road until the T-junction.
- Turn right into and follow King George Avenue which leads into Valley Drive.
- The picnic site is on the right at the bottom of Valley Drive before you go through the river drift.
Buy your own refreshments for afterwards. The reserve closes at 6pm. Entrance is R40 or Rhino Card. Call Ann Olds on 083-666-5630.
On Sunday, 14 April hikers will enjoy the Virginia Walkabout/ Danville Dawdle in Durban North.
John will set off at 8am leading hikers on a grade two 15km circular ramble, mixing street and bush walking in Danville Park and other green areas, with wonderful views of the sea. Park at Danville Park Girl’s High School, 21 Middlebrook Avenue, Virginia. Meet at 7.45am.
