Octogenarions lead the way at Bluff Bowling Club

Members are reminded that the June Foster /Glynnis Macrory 3-2-1 killer competition is scheduled for the morning of Friday, 7 June.

The club’s two oldest men bowlers, Robbie Johnston and Dudley Dorrofield skipped their respective sides in the fourth division this past Saturday to promote to the third division with an emphatic five points to nil victory at home against Durban Wanderers in the penultimate round of the league for 2019.

They are now guaranteed to finish at worst in second spot and secured promotion. The C side travelled to Umhlanga, but unfortunately went down by the same margin to their hosts. The changes made to the men’s A side and the women’s league teams paid dividends as the women beat Amanzimtoti three points to two at Stella Park and the men won their match also against Amanzimtoti by five points to two in their away fixture.

These results keep the hopes of remaining in the top leagues alive with one round of fixtures left to play on Saturday, 22 June. This month’s edition of the diving bell any pairs was held on Sunday, 2 June, and the overall winners of the vouchers were Robert Mhlongo and Noel Morel on a 4+18 and in second place, five shots behind were Terry Michelson and Johan Nel on a 4+13 while the second session prize on a 2+9 was the Wentworth pair of Norman Webster and Moses Nuba.

On Friday night the joker draw was not won and now stands at R7 350 as Eddie Human could not locate the card. The next draw will be held this coming Friday, 7 June. Members are reminded that the June Foster /Glynnis Macrory 3-2-1 killer competition is scheduled also for the morning of Friday, 7 June. The Fabricon 2-4-2 any pairs takes place on Wednesday afternoon, 12 June at 1.30pm. Tabs to be in no later than 1.15pm. Thanks to Terry Michelson and Thys Moolman, there will now be a perch prize that will increase by R500 every month that it is not won. Players are reminded that in order to win this prize they have to be the overall winners for two consecutive months.
