Basketball trials kick off in Wentworth

The aim of the trials was to choose the best player who will represent Wentworth as it is currently ranked as the district champion.

THE Wentworth Raptures Basketball Club held its trials at the Bayview sports ground on January 25, to kick off the new season.

The coach, Sheldon Francis, said his team is more than just a basketball team.

“They’re a tight-knit community of young men dedicated to achieving excellence both on and off the court. The Raptures are building a legacy centered on discipline, teamwork and personal growth, while upholding values rooted in faith and integrity,” said Francis.

The new season kicked off with a remarkable turnout at tryouts, highlighting the wealth of talent and passion within the community.

With the support of a dedicated management team and a fresh group of coaches and referees, all former senior team players of the Raptures are focused on developing the full potential of each player while fostering a family-like atmosphere.

“We’re committed to ensuring our players grow not just as athletes, but as individuals. We believe in the power of basketball to inspire positive change, and we want to see our players succeed both on the court and in their personal lives,” said Francis.
