Mother shot dead during hijack

Police investigating a case of murder and armed robbery.

Provincial spokesperson lieutenant Kay Makhubela, has confirmed a hijacking incident which happened in Bramfischer yesterday afternoon.

Makhubela said a woman was shot to death by two men who hijacked her vehicle.

The hijackers drove off in her white Toyota Corolla – which Makhubela said had just been bought (brand new).

The mother, a 33-year-old died on the scene.

Two of her children remained behind with the mother after hijackers took the car.

It was later found abandoned in Dobsonville.

Makhubela said it is unclear why the hijackers abandoned the vehicle.

“The children were not injured but a police investigation is underway,” said Makhubela.

No arrests have been made so far and a murder and armed robbery case has been opened.
