Slovoville residents urged to stay alert as burglaries increase

A surge in burglaries across Slovoville has prompted community patrollers to warn residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.

Residents in Slovoville are urged to remain cautious following a recent spike in burglaries, with criminals reportedly targeting homes while occupants are away.

Community patroller Patrick Thinane said burglars have been breaking into unoccupied houses and stealing valuable items, including TVs, sneakers, and other belongings.

Thinane explained that most burglaries occur when homeowners are out, leaving many families returning to find their properties ransacked.

“In one of the latest incidents, suspects fled with a TV, tekkies, and several household items,” he said.

He urged the community to be more vigilant, especially when approached by individuals selling goods that appear suspicious or unusually cheap.

Thinane encouraged residents to strengthen their home security by installing cameras, keeping valuables out of sight, and reporting any unusual behaviour to local authorities.
