Braamfischerville cash-in-transit robbery under investigation

A case of cash-in-transit robbery is under investigation after a cash van was bombed and an undisclosed amount of money was stolen.
The robbery allegedly took place in Braamfischerville along Freedom Road next to a grocery store on March 4.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, the cash van was reportedly rammed by a Mercedes-Benz while travelling along Freedom Road.
She said the driver and his two crew members were forced out of the vehicle at gunpoint and assaulted before the van was bombed.

“The suspects fired several gunshots before fleeing the scene, allegedly using a silver-grey Volvo and a dark brown BMW X5,” said Nevhuhulwi.
Nevhuhulwi added that the case will be investigated by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation.
