Eldorado Park police and community forum urge residents to help fight crime

Residents were encouraged to partner with police to combat drugs, gangsterism, and other local crime during two radio interviews this week.

Following her interview on Eldos FM at the station’s Eldorado Park studios, Eldorado Park SAPS communication officer Sergeant Fezeka Khobo, together with Community Policing Forum (CPF) chairperson Sbusiso Zwane, spoke to Jozi FM 105.8 on March 17, at Dube Soweto.

During both interviews, the discussions focused on similar issues affecting the community, including crime hotspots, drugs, gangsterism, Uber hijackings, and the importance of partnership between residents and police through CPF structures.

The “Rate My Service” survey and suggestion box were highlighted as tools for residents to provide feedback.

Zwane urged the community to work closely with police, adding that constructive criticism is welcome.

Khobo encouraged residents to report crime as it happens and assured them that tip-offs can be made anonymously.

She also warned that anyone who reports a crime and later tries to withdraw the case could face arrest for perjury.

Both radio sessions allowed residents to ask questions and raise concerns, particularly about random shootings in and around Eldorado Park.

Khobo further said these issues are being actively addressed by Crime Intelligence, the Tracing Team, and Crime Prevention Units.
