Mandela Day spirit shines as NPO pampers Klipspruit seniors
Unity@One celebrated Mandela Day by hosting Klipspruit’s elderly for a pampering day with food, exercise, and relaxing massages.
The NPO Unity@One hosted the community of Klipspruit to a day filled with spoils and pampering at Asha Dawn in Klipspruit on July 18.
The organisation aims to support the community and help eliminate social ills. This event was especially important as one of their key goals is to focus on the elderly, ensuring they feel valued and cared for.
The day began with breakfast served to attendees as they socialised and enjoyed music.

This was followed by an exercise session led by gym instructor Bheki Tibe, who also taught them how to stretch and exercise at home.

Celiwe Nkangeni shared, “We are thankful to be remembered in the community.
Today is all about giving back, and I am glad we are the ones on the receiving end. We left our homes this morning in good spirits, looking forward to being pampered and enjoying the day with fellow community members.”
Lerato Ntsibande, founder of Unity@One, told Urban News that the vision behind the day was to make the community, especially the elderly, feel cherished and appreciated.

“With the help of Miss Earth South Africa, Asha Dawn Pre-school and other stakeholders, my team and I are very grateful to host such an event. We get to spend the day with the community and pamper them.
“We organised foot massages and prepared goodie bags for everyone to take home.

“This is the spirit of Ubuntu and our way of giving back for 67 minutes, even though the event lasts the whole day,” said Ntsibande.
Attendees were treated to a lunch followed by dessert, and the day ended with a foot massage courtesy of Asha Dawn educators.

Principal of Asha Dawn, Nobomi Rwexwana, expressed her delight in offering the venue for the event, calling it a meaningful way to give back.
