Diepkloof dance crew aims high in national competition
The Last Chance Dance Crew from Diepkloof has reached the next round of a national dance competition in Cape Town and is seeking community support to make the trip.
Driven by a passion for amapiano, the Last Chance Dance Crew will represent Diepkloof in a competition in Cape Town on October 10.
The crew was founded in 2017 by Thobile Dladla and a group of nine dancers to keep local children safe and occupied after school.
Dladla said her vision succeeded because children passionate about dance, acting, and poetry joined with parental support.

The dancers entered the Global Dance Supreme online competition and moved to the second round in Cape Town.
“We are thrilled to represent Diepkloof. Most members are travelling to Cape Town for the first time.
“This shows them that hard work pays off and that they can do anything they put their minds to, regardless of their backgrounds,” Dladla said.
Dladla added that the next level is in Dubai, where they would represent SA if they win in Cape Town.
“We are excited but need community help with transport and funds for the trip. We look forward to making Diepkloof proud.”
Dancer Nosiphesihle Sithole said she began dancing at age six, honing her craft through platforms like TikTok.
“My inspiration comes from artists like Kamo Mphela and Uncle Waffles, young, black women who work hard and express themselves through dance.”
