Community backing fuels Strokes FC ambitions in Eldorado Park

Jay’s Blue Bottle Liquor Wholesalers renews its support for Strokes FC with a brand-new kit, boosting the club’s morale ahead of major festive tournaments.

Jay’s Blue Bottle Liquor Wholesalers (JBBLW) again supported the Eldorado Park soccer club, the Strokes FC, with donations as part of its contribution to grassroots sports development in Eldos.

The wholesaler donated a new kit, which includes shorts, T-shirts and socks, ahead of the upcoming festive season tournaments.

The kit is dark blue and red, with a white stripe. It has the logo printed in white and the JBBLW logo in its original colours.

Jay Nana from the JBBLW said supporting the Strokes FC was about uplifting the same community that supports their business.

“We run a business in Eldorado Park, so it is important for us to give back when we can and create positive opportunities for young people,” said Nana.

He added that sport kept the youth motivated, disciplined and striving for something better.

“This is the third year we have sponsored the club, and we are proud of how far the team has come. We want to see them grow, perform well in the tournaments ahead, and continue representing our community with pride.”
Local businessman Jackie Hilton thanked the JBBLW for continuing its support of football in the community.

“Their commitment has made a difference for the team and for our development players, who also rely on this kind of help.”

Hilton challenged other local businesses to step up, adding that supporting sport is part of community responsibility.

“Even a small contribution can ease the pressure on the coach and the players. In the past, many businesses in Eldorado Park were active in football development, and we would love to see that spirit return. When businesses come together for our youth, the whole community benefits,” he concluded.

Coach Nathan ‘Mourinho’ Davies explained that the kit was more than just colours and fabric; it gives the players pride, motivation and something positive to hold on to.

“Eldorado Park faces many challenges, but football reminds the youth that there is a future beyond the negative influences around them.

“Many young boys here dream of wearing the Strokes badge, and support like this keeps that dream alive,” Davies noted.

The club is preparing for some of the biggest festive season tournaments, including the Discovery Walter Sisulu Soccer Challenge and Philly’s Games.

“We will do our best to represent Eldos with courage and honour,” he said.
