Race 1 No 3 Pucker Up

The last time a Work Riders meeting was held at the Vaal, six of the eight favourites on the card were victorious – basically proving that these gentlemen are some of the most reliable riders in the game.

Chris Webber-trained Pucker Up by far has the most encouraging form in this line-up and, has recorded two thirds and just as many fourths from her last four appearances.

She was probably beaten by the appalling draw more than anything else last time so that four-length loss is best ignored.

Pucker Up is best judged on her penultimate third-place finish, when producing a late assault on Wylie Wench to lose by a diminishing 1.75 lengths. if this four-year-old finds a way to reproduce a similar performance, she will be extremely hard to peg back.

Bargain Bet

Race 5 No 3 Pillaroftheearth

Although proving rather expensive to follow and failing to win a race in more than 565 days, the Roy Magner-trained Pillaroftheearth has been threatening to register a fourth career victory for a long time now.

In fact, he has run a place five times in last seven attempts.

Gavin Lerena’s mount was caught deep turning for home recently and, after battling to find a clear gap in the latter stages, he could only manage third. With that said, he was not disgraced – beaten just two lengths.

That form line has produced a winner and the selection should have no trouble outclassing main danger King Of The Delta, simple because that rival is returning from a 122-day layoff.
