Who’s it going to be? Who’s going to walk away with the prize for scoring the best try in 2021?
That is the question now following the announcement by SA Rugby on Friday of the nominees for Try of the Year.
For the first time, SA Rugby have added a new category to their awards list, namely Test Try of the Year – where supporters will have the final say in who walks away with the accolade.
Included on the list of nominees – all of which can be viewed here – are tries by centre Damian de Allende, wing Makazole Mapimpi, utility back Aphelele Fassi, and wing Cheslin Kolbe, as well as Springbok Women’s players Zintle Mpupha and Libbie Janse van Rensburg.
In all, fans will have 10 tries to pick from. The winning try will be announced in the new year when all the awards are handed out.
In the main category, Springbok players Siya Kolisi, Eben Etzebeth, Damian de Allende, Lukyanho Am and Makazole Mapimpi, are up against each other in the race to be crowned SA Rugby Player of the Year.
