Chippa coach Mapeza grateful for ‘massive’ point

Mapeza believes that the point would come in handy for Chippa in the long run.

Norman Mapeza said he was thrilled with the one point that Chippa United collected in the clash against Maritzburg United.

The Chilli Boys were held to a 0-0 draw by the Team of Choice during an Absa Premiership match at Sisa Dukashe Stadium over the weekend.

Mapeza believes that the point would come in handy for Chippa in the long run.

“It was a good game of football. It was a game of moments. They had their moments and we had ours,” said Mapeza during his post-match interview.

“They had chances at the beginning of the second half and we also had a couple. For me, this is a massive point.

“It’s not easy collecting three points in this league — even a point is not easy. So for us, this is a massive point and I’m very grateful for it and this point will carry us somewhere.”

Mapeza is happy that his side looks to be on course to survive relegation this season.

“I think I said it when I first came here that the objective is to survive relegation.

“I’m not a prophet so I won’t make any predictions. But we are working and our target is to survive relegation.

Meanwhile, Mapeza refused to blame the pitch for his side’s failure to collect maximum points against Maritzburg.

“It rained and that was nature so there was nothing we can do.”

Chippa will next face Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday.
