Ekstein set for January move

Despite talks that Hendrick Ekstein is looking for a club in the country, the former Kaizer Chiefs and Sabah FC midfielder will be going back overseas.

To which club or country, Ekstein, who had quite a good start at Sabah couldn’t reveal his destination yet, but said it won’t be a local club.

“Now that I’m done with the things that I came here for, I can now focus on myself and where I am going next,” said the midfielder.

“To where I’m going, I won’t reveal that for now because my agent is working on it. But it won’t be a local club, I’m going overseas again.”

Ekstein has long been linked with a number of clubs in the country which include Orlando Pirates and Highlands Park in the past. That hasn’t changed since news that he terminated his contract with Sabah broke out earlier in December.

The skillful midfielder who was one of the fan favourites at Amakhosi during his stint with the Glamour Boys admitted that there are several clubs who are after his signature in the country.

“I’m not looking for a club locally, I’m going back abroad. There are offers in the country, but to be honest, I’m not looking to come back.”
