Amajita set to leave for South Korea on Wednesday

Amajita coach Thabo Senong wants his players to acclimatise quickly to the conditions in South Korea where they will be competing in the Fifa Under-20 World Cup, set to start on May 21.

Senong and his team will head to Asia on Wednesday to continue with their preparations for the competition.

“We are traveling this week to ensure that the players have adequate time to acclimatize before the tournament starts – due to the huge time difference (7 hours) the players will need as much time as possible to do so as failure to deal with this could be detrimental to the team’s performance,” Senong told the Safa website.

“So, we want to prepare them properly, lay a good foundation for them to do well and not take short cuts. I am also glad our preparations are going to plan and that is very pleasing.”

Amajita beat Gauteng ABC Motsepe league champions Maccabi FC 1-0 in a friendly match, with Luther Singh scoring the winning goal.

The team will have an international friendly match against Costa Rica on Monday, May 15.
