Lebese happy at Kaizer Chiefs

George Lebese has ended speculation about his future, saying he is happy at Kaizer Chiefs.

Speculation has been rife that the 28-year-old midfielder wants a move away from Amakhosi following a season where he did not start as many games under Steve Komphela.

“I am still with Kaizer Chiefs, and that’s about as far as I go and where it stands at the moment. I am happy‚” Lebese told TimesLIVE.

Mamelodi Sundowns were said to be interested in signing the skillful midfielder, but Lebese says he treats the rumours about his move to the Brazilians as mere speculation.

“I have heard the rumours about me joining Sundowns, and to be honest they [the speculations] have been with me since I turned pro.

“I am from Mamelodi, and that’s my home‚ so the speculation doesn’t surprise me.”

Lebese made 22 league appearances for Chiefs in the 2016/17 season, but he mainly came on as a substitute, with Edmore Chirambadare being the preferred left winger.
