Al Ahly close in on Mahlambi

Bidvest Wits starlet Phakamani Mahlambi has reportedly flown to Egypt to conclude his move to Al Ahly.

According to reports in Egypt, Mahlambi and his agent, Glyn Binkin, left South Africa for Cairo last night and that the deal was set to be concluded ahead of deadline day, which is today.

Al Ahly are said to have tabled an offer of about R17 million for the South African junior international.

Wits are believed to have accepted the offer and what is left now is for Mahlambi to accept personal terms and undergo a medical.

Mahlambi has just returned from Portugal, where he was on a three-week trial with Vitoria Guimaraes, but was not offered a deal by the club.

If he signs for Al Ahly, he will become the first South African to play in the Egyptian league.
