“He was released on R1 000 bail, and will appear at the Hatfield Magistrates’ court on May 15, 2019‚” police spokesperson Superintendent Isaac Mahamba told TimesLIVE.

“We are expecting to get results from the blood samples taken by next year. However, if the results come back before the court date‚ he will be subpoenaed to appear in court‚” Mahamba added.

Mahamba refused to name the man, and only referred to him as a Bafana Bafana player.

Jali took to Twitter to deny that he was the 28-year-old Bafana player who had been arrested, saying: “It’s not me please guys (sic).”
