PSL is the best league in Africa – Pitso

Mosimane says some of the leagues in South America are below the standards of the PSL that is why players opt to come to South Africa.

Having travelled around the continent playing in the Caf Champions League and scouting players as far as South America, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes the Absa Premiership is the best league in Africa.

Over the past years, Mosimane has brought in a number of players from South America to play for Downs, and says some of the leagues in South America are below the standards of the PSL that is why players opt to come to South Africa.

“The PSL is one of the best leagues in Africa, we scout, we watch the Egyptian league because we play against these teams. We watch Tunisian league because we play against them, we watch teams from Morocco,” said Mosimane.

“The game of Highlands is as difficult as the game against Wydad Casablanca, trust me, it is a high standard. We scout in South America, we get players from Peru, Bolivia, we get from all over the place. The leagues there are not as tough as the PSL and you must look into that. I think we undermine our product, it is very good. That is why when players when they can’t come here they go to Europe.”
