Bafana’s Afcon qualification good for SA football – Middendorp

The Chiefs coach feels that any player who does not wish to go to Egypt in June should probably just not play professionally.

Bafana Bafana’s qualifying for the Caf Africa Cup of Nations augurs well for the domestic game as it will serve as a motivation for every player to want to make the team who will represent the country in Egypt in June.

This is Kaizer Chiefs coach, Ernst Middendorp’s view as he feels that any player who does not wish to go to Egypt in June should probably just not play professionally.

“Bafana’s qualifying for Afcon is good for every team in the Absa Premiership,” said Middendorp. “There is now a target as players want to be part of the bigger event, go to Egypt, play in the Afcon and in future probably qualify for the World Cup.

“This is something that if you have passion and you like your job, you like being a professional soccer player… if somebody is not targeting this as a man at the age of 21 or 22, they should probably stop playing the game and go do something else,” he added.
