Banyana star joins Asian club

Banyana Banyana striker Thembi Kgatlana will be playing her football in Asia, with striker announcing that she has joined Beijing BG Phoenix FC on her social media accounts.


Kgatlana, who has been on splendid form in the last two years for both the national senior women’s team and former team Houston Dash in the US is the reigning African female footballer of the year, making her the second footballer in the country to have won the accolade following on the footsteps on Noko Matlou, who won the prestigious award in 2008.

“I would like to thank BEIJING BG PHOENIX FC for taking me and giving me a home full of opportunities. I am looking forward to the adventure,” said the striker.

Beijing FC are plying their trade in the Chinese Women’s League and the club was established in 1984.
