Brockie can win the league for us – Mngqithi

Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi believes that once Jeremy Brockie ends his goal drought, he can go on to score potential league winning goals for the side.

The last time the New Zealander found the back of the net traces as far back as last September when he was still at SuperSport United.

“At times we become too critical when a player is not scoring. We must always give him a break because we know what he is capable of. We know that he is not the exciting player who everyone would like him to be. He is not a dribbler who will excite people” said Mngqithi.

“I have a feeling that he is going to score the important goals. Those goals that make you win the league.

When everything is looking bleak and he comes in with a goal. I see those one-nils coming somewhere and I see him scoring at five goals until the end of the season,” he added.

Brockie has played a handful of games since arriving at Chloorkop, and Mngqithi expects him to bang in at least five goals before the end of the season.

“I can bet my money – he is still going to score a lot of goals for us. People will say it has been so many games, this guy still hasn’t scored. It is not by chance that we thought he would help us. We’ve got many exiting players in the team, but we wanted someone who was going to give us a certain dimension of the game,” said the former Golden Arrows mentor.

“The fact that he has not done it until now goes into his head. He becomes more anxious to try and score and he ends up getting out of the positions where he is supposed to be. He wants to be part of the game so that he can create a moment for himself.”
