Chiefs will win the Nedbank Cup, says Ekstein

Hendrick ‘Pule’ Ekstein is confident that Kaizer Chiefs will end their trophy drought by lifting the Nedbank Cup.

Amakhosi edged Baroka FC 1-0 on Saturday to reach the semifinals of the competition at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, with Erick Mathoho scoring the winning goal for Steve Komphela’s team.

“I think we owe it to the fans. We have to do well for the team and our supporters,” Ekstein told SuperSport TV after the game.

“It has been two seasons without winning anything so this one is our chance. Yes, we will go all the way to the final and we are going to win this cup.”

Ekstein was voted Man-of-the-Match after the game.

“Yes, I will get better and I think I have two or three goals this season if not mistaken and I don’t have an assist, but I’m happy with the support I got from my teammates, the legends of the team and the coach, who are helping me throughout,” commented Ekstein upon receiving his award.

Meanwhile, Chiefs were drawn against Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup semifinals.
