Cosmos earn valuable away point in Cape Town

Jomo Cosmos owner and coach Jomo Sono was full of praise for his team after they secured a point away to struggling Ubuntu Cape Town FC on Sunday afternoon. The point moved Ezenkosi up to seventh on the standings.

“It was a good game and the second half was exciting. We will return to the top flight whether via a straight promotion or through the play-offs,” Sono was quoted as saying after the match.

Richards Bay 3 (S. Mkhulise, T. Nkoana, M. Gumede) Tshakuma 1 (L. Hlongwane)
A 10-men Richards Bay FC had to fight to register their first win of the season after Howard Davis was sent off within five minutes. A scuffle broke out at half time and the restart was delayed as Bay officials voiced their discontent with the referee. Sandile Mkhulisi, Thabiso Nkoana and Michael Gumede scored for the Rich Boys while Lifa Hlongwane got one back for TTM.

Ubuntu CT 1 (R. Chivariro) Jomo Cosmos 1 (L. Mntambo)
Ubuntu Cape Town FC could not again pocket the full points at home as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Jomo Cosmos. Their coach Roger Links had revealed last week that they need to start winning at home but it was not to be as Linda Mntambo cancelled out Ranga Chivariro’s goal to ensure the share of the spoils.

Mbombela United 1 (T. Liphoko ) Highlands Park 0
Tshepo Liphoko continued his scoring run as he handed Tingwenyama their third win which pushed them to third on the log. As a result of the defeat, Phakaaathi has been informed that the Lions of the North have parted with their coaches and are set to unveil Owen Da Gama as their new mentor soon.

Uthongathi FC 1 (S. Thwala) Mthatha Bucks 2 (M. Erasmus; L. Mathosi)
Uthongathi’s impressive start to the campaign has derailed and the team are on a downward spiral and Mthatha Bucks added to their worries handing them a 2-1 defeat. Mpho Erasmus took his tally to five while Lucky Mathosi also scored for Amathol’amnyama and Siyabonga Thwala added one for the home side.

Royal Eagles 1 (B. Komane); Super Eagles 1
It was up to Boikanyo Komane again to save face for Royal Eagles who are yet to register a win this season. Komane scored from the penalty spot and we are yet to establish who scored for Super Eagles.

Witbank Spurs 1 AmaTuks 2 (G. Bruchhausen; M. Shozi)
AmaTuks moved up to second spot on the log with a win over Siyavutha. Grant Bruchhausen and Mfanafuthi Shozi scored to ensure the visitors pocket the full points.

Black Leopards 0 Real Kings 0
A goalless draw saw Lidoda Duvha fall to 12th place as they struggle to get their rhythm going this season. The point earned away pushed the Magic Boys to fifth.

Stellenbosch 1 (T. Mabua); CT All Stars 0
Tshepo Mabua was again the hero for Stellies as his solitary strike was enough to sink Igugu leKapa who have now gone two games without a win after a good start which saw them top the standings. David Kannemeyer’s side have dropped to sixth.
