Gyimah joins Helsingborg on trial – report

Former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United defender Edwin Gyimah is reportedly attending a trial at Swedish side Helsingborg.

Gyimah parted ways with Pirates last month after submitting a written request asking the club to release him from his contract.

No reasons were given as to why the Ghanaian player wanted to leave, with Pirates only confirming they had acceded to his request to leave the club.

“The club has acceded to Mr Gyimah’s request [to be released from the club] and wish him all of the best in his future endeavours,” read a statement on the Pirates website.

Now reports coming out of Ghana are that Gyimah is attending a trial at Helsingborg.

“Ghana defender Edwin Gyimah is on a trial at Swedish second-tier side Helsingborg IF. Gyimah is available on a free transfer after parting ways with South African side Orlando Pirates.

“He can play a centre back and also a holding defender.

“Gyimah will be seeking to follow in the footsteps of compatriot David Accam who excelled for the club three seasons ago,” reported GhanaSoccernet.com
