Homecoming Mokoena targets win over Stars

SuperSport United midfielder Teboho Mokoena will be looking to star in front of his hometown crowd in Bethlehem tonight.

In the process of being a shining star at Globe Park, Mokoena will have to help his side dim Free State Stars as Matsatsantsa look to get back to winning ways.

The wins have gone dry for the capital city-based outfit following two successive draws against Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City in the Absa Premiership.

“It is very difficult for us to win matches nowadays and we are missing our chances, I think going into this game, we have to give it our all and see what will happen. We really need these points,” said Mokoena, who revealed that their mandate is to collect maximum points before the Christmas break with visits to Baroka FC and Bloemfontein Celtic follow after Luc Eymael’s campaigners.

“We are targeting to get these nine points that are left for us to collect and see where that will place us on the log. We are looking forward to fight for maximum results,” he added.

Matsatsantsa will be without captain Dean Furman, but as per mathematics law – what happens on one side must happen on the other side – meaning Ea Lla Koto’s skipper Paulus Masehe will also be reduced to a spectator due to suspension.

“We will miss him of course as our leader but I don’t think we will have a problem,” said Mokoena.

“Thato Mokeke is probably going to be the one to replace him, but we are going to miss Dean because he plays as big role for us especially as youngsters because he is always motivating us to do well,” the 20-year-old added.
