Jomo Sono optimistic about PSL return

Jomo Cosmos head coach Jomo Sono is positive of a return to the Absa Premiership with the club having started the season on a bright note.

Ezenkosi are on position six on the National First Division (NFD) log, having accumulated eight points and six games, two wins, two draws and two losses.

“It is the first time we have started on a good note being in the top half of the log so early in the season. We normally start being at the bottom or second from the bottom. We want to stay very close between position one and six, but we are hoping to be inside the top four of the table when the first round ends,” said Sono.

Meanwhile, Cosmos will be participating in the Gauteng Champion of Champions tournament going up against top-flight sides Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United at the Vosloorus Stadium this weekend.

Sono says his players will try hard to do well in this competition, but added that his main objective is to prepare the team for their next league game against Cape Town All Stars at the Athlone Stadium on October 13.

“We are glad to be part of this competition. It will be a good run for the boys as we prepare for our next league match. They always step up when they play big teams because they want to be recognised. We played Uthongathi FC the other day and we drew. After a couple of days we went on to play a friendly match against Mamelodi Sundowns and we beat them 1-0,” commented Sono.
