Komphela lauds Chiefs’ veteran trio after Stars win

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has praised Itumeleng Khune, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Bernard Parker after the trio helped Amakhosi beat Platinum Stars over the weekend.

Khune made some good saves for Chiefs, while Tshabalala and Parker came off the bench to change the complexion of the game, with Tshabalala scoring the winning goal.

Tshabalala scored with the header in the 71st minute of the match.

“Itumeleng Khune and Siphiwe Tshabalala have loads of experience and that’s something you can’t buy in a supermarket. It was a good decision to start with Bernard Parker and ‘Shabba’ on the bench, as they made an immediate impact after coming on in the second half,” Komphela told the club’s website.

“Shabba provided us with options. Don’t forget as well that we still have to continuously adjust as we have a few important players out injured. Luckily, these are now getting close to full fitness, which will give us a nice headache when it comes to team selection,” added the Chiefs coach.

Meanwhile, Komphela dedicated the win to the club supporters.

“This is one for our supporters. We will record this as Christmas came early for our loyal supporters.”

Following the Stars win, Amakhosi now third on the log with three points separating them from log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Brazilians, however, have played three less game than Amakhosi.
