Komphela slams ‘embarrassing’ Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs coach left fuming after his side suffered what he described as an 'embarrassing' defeat to Platinum Stars on Wednesday night.

Goals from Solomon Mathe and Enocent Mkhabela earned Dikwena a 2-0 win over Amakhosi at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

“When you say they nullified us, you are giving us a lot of credit, when you nullify someone you give that to someone who is trying something, we did absolutely nothing in the first half,” Komphela told SuperSport TV after the game.

“It is embarrassing. I have never seen us play like that in my life. The worst first half that I have ever seen.

“It is out of disrespect that we perform like that and it’s something we would like to forget. So many people come to watch you, I don’t even think an amateur team could play like that.

“The second half we came back a bit better, but compliments must be given to Platinum Stars. They gave us what we deserve.

“Above anything else, you have to acknowledge the opportunity given to you. When you are given the gold and black shirt, put it on with pride and honour, do something to show that you are fighting and you went down fighting.

“We are going into the next game and I hope they realise that there are people who died and loved this team who deserve better.”

Chiefs’ last game of the season is against newly crowned champions Bidvest Wits at FNB Stadium on Saturday, May 27.
