Celtic set to steal Chiefs target

Kaizer Chiefs may lose out on former Orlando Pirates striker, Ndumiso Mabena, Phakaaathi sources have revealed.

According to sources, Mabena could be headed to Bloemfontein Celtic who have tabled an offer for him.

“Celtic are really serious about roping him in and have made him an offer. He could be their player before the end of the week,” said a source.

But another source said Mabena could delay his move to Phunya Selesele as he awaits on Chiefs to make an offer.

“He is aware that Chiefs want him. The talks have long been there and who would miss out on that chance,” said the source.

Mabena was released by Platinum Stars last month after they failed to reach an agreement over a new contract.

Although Mabena failed to make the grade at the Buccaneers, it is at Dikwena where he proved to be a good striker, scoring 23 times in 94 appearances.

Phakaaathi understands that Bidvest Wits have also made an enquiry about his availability although nothing serious has been discussed.
