A source says the technical team have identified a goalkeeper they want to have in the team next season and have already spoken to his club.

“I think the deal is already done between the two clubs, they are just waiting for the end of the season so the player can start talking about personal terms,” said the source.

He asked us not to mention the keeper’s name for now as there are some sensitive matters that still need to be ironed out.

The source was, however, more open to talking about who will be let go by Chiefs to open up the space for the new man.

“It was a difficult decision because all the keepers there are from the club’s development structures except for Brandon (Petersen).

“But they know they have to let one go and Bruce (Bvuma) is the one who will be sacrificed.

“I don’t know what the final decision was but from what I heard he could be part of the deal and go the other way when the new keeper comes,” added the source.

Chiefs have failed to find a solid replacement for Itumeleng Khune, who is the club’s longest serving player in the current squad. And while Khune is still active, he has been hampered by a whole host of injuries.
