Ex-Chiefs star Ekstein keen to join Pirates

After his contract with Kaizer Chiefs was terminated last week, a source close to midfielder Hendrick Ekstein has revealed there are a number of clubs who have shown interest in the player.

However, Ekstein has made up his mind on which team he wants to play for with the source revealing that Ekstein is keen on a move to Chiefs’ rivals Orlando Pirates.

“A player like him would obviously attract a lot of interest and to be quite honest, it’s not really surprising. A lot of people expected him to remain at Chiefs looking at the way he has been playing lately and the fact coach Ernst Middendorp likes him.

“There are two or three teams who are hugely interested in him, but there are also Pirates. He has wanted to play for Pirates for some time,” said the source.
